WHAT ARE CANNABIS CONCENTRATES?

Cannabis plants have glands called trichomes that can be found on flower buds, leaves, and stems. These glands produce the cannabinoids and terpenes associated with the marijuana plant. These glands are harvested and processed into cannabis concentrates for use because of their high levels of THC.

TYPES OF CONCENTRATES

The main differences between the different types of THC concentrates are their texture and consistency and how they are processed. The THC potency in these extracts can vary slightly more or less between the types of THC concentrates, but they are all high-potency substances.

Resin

This concentrate, otherwise known as Live Resin, is processed by flash-freezing the fresh hemp buds directly after harvesting them. This process allows the preservation of large amounts of terpenes and cannabinoids that other processing methods would typically degrade.

Wax

These concentrates can vary in texture, such as a soft, oily wax, a sticky texture like honey, or a consistency prone to crumble. The texture will be influenced by how much heat and moisture the product was subject to during the extraction process.

Sauce

This concentrate is known by other names, such as Terp Sauce or high terpene full spectrum extracts (HTFSEs). Making this concentrate involves extracting a high amount of terpenes and separating them from the cannabinoids. The terpenes and cannabinoids are later recombined.

Budder

The production process of this concentrate requires effective whipping or mixing to get rid of the solvents used to extract the concentrate. The whipping or mixing step gives this concentrate its name because it produces a consistency similar to butter.

Crumble

Although Crumble is extracted through the same process as Wax and Budder, moisture and heat are controlled to produce a drier form of cannabis.

Rosin

This concentrate is challenging to produce on a mass-production level, using low heat and pressure without chemicals to extract it.

Resin vs. Rosin - What is the Difference

The extraction process is what makes Resin and Rosin different. While Resin and Rosin are similar in that, no solvents are involved in the extraction process − Resin is extracted using a flash-freezing method, while Rosin is produced by heat and pressure.

WHY DO PEOPLE CHOOSE CANNABIS CONCENTRATES

Because different types of THC concentrates are able to be vaporized and inhaled using a vape pen, this is sometimes the preferred way of cannabis use. Cannabis concentrates can also be used in a process called dabbing.

Resin

Because of the flash freezing process, the preservation of the terpenes creates an intense flavor when using the product, and more terpenes and cannabinoids are produced in the final product creating a higher potency.

Wax

The process used to produce these types of THC concentrates also extracts other cannabis compounds, including terpenes and flavonoids that, combined with high potency, enhance the user's experience. In addition, it is the least expensive to produce, making it affordable.

Sauce

Terpene Sauce can be combined with other cannabinoid strains in various forms to produce the desired entourage effect. In addition, because of the amount of terpene the sauce contains, it provides an intense flavor.

Budder

Budder and Wax are similar in potency and experience. Still, Budder can be a tad more expensive due to a more costly production process.

Crumble

Because Crumble's extraction process is similar to Wax and Budder, the potency is about the same. However, its consistency makes Crumble easier to handle and work with.

Rosin

This concentrate is extracted without using chemicals and is the cleanest form of concentrate. In addition, more of the other compounds like terpenes and flavonoids are present, enhancing the experience.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONCENTRATES, EXTRACTS, AND DABS?

These terms can be interchangeable to indicate a soluble form of cannabis. However, not all concentrates and extracts are dabs. For a concentrate or extract to be called a dab, it must be a soluble form of cannabis that can be consumed through dabbing.
